    • The PERMA Model for Wellbeing (Seligman, 2011) can be be used to create a clearer focus to the coaching process. PERMA describes 5 elements which can contribute to psychological wellbeing. Including: Positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning and accomplishment.

The PERMA model itself does not offer any real direction for overcoming challenges or techniques for addressing an imbalance within each of the five elements. However, used in conjunction with other techniques, it’s a great starting point that can add real direction within a coaching plan (Meade 2020).

This webpage is a great place to start for ideas of using the PERMA model as a self-coaching tool.

    • This article explores PERMA - the 5 elements of wellbeing as described by Martin Seligman (2011). These elements have been well researched and can contribute to psychological wellbeing and flourishing.
