I've heard my Dad play Pink Floyd albums and they have always been perfected pieces of work, creating a universe of their own.
The Dark Side of the Moon is probably their most iconic album and seems to be a real rites of passage growing up for a lot of people. Lyrically, it covers such universal and major themes. It's like the brief was to dissect the meaning of life.
Musically, it is very ahead of it's time. Early use of synthesisers and vast-sounding, elongated guitars. It must have at times influenced one of my favourite bands, Radiohead.
